AirAsia – ‘Take Off’ with Vietnamese memories

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary of flying with Vietnam, AirAsia did not choose fireworks or big promotions, but “took off” in its own way, with a contemporary art exhibition in the heart of Saigon Saigon.

The exhibition ‘Taking Off’ is a collaboration between AirAsia and prominent contemporary artists such as Cao Hoang Long & CABE Studio, Jo Ngo – Tran Nguyen, Gianghoangg, Gabriel Meranze Levitt (Anh Ca Phe) and Kinn. Each work is a door leading into the realm of memories, evoking deep emotions about the country, people and journey of dreams.

Since its first flight connecting Hanoi and Bangkok in 2005, AirAsia has become a close companion in the journey of discovery of millions of Vietnamese people.

The exhibition ‘Take Off’ is a special work of art that recreates the 20-year journey of connection and development of this airline, using 3D visual mapping technology combining light, sound and visual effects to convey strong inspiration.

‘Take Off’ Exhibition – Flying in the clouds of Vietnamese identity

The exhibition takes viewers on a journey through Vietnamese memories, with captivating metaphorical images and experiences such as “Asian Wings”, “Lac Bird”, “Whisper of the Clouds”, “Future Horizon” and“Dream State Living”,

Inspired by the excitement of spreading wings in the sky, “Whisper of the Clouds” evokes the image of floating clouds, a symbol of freedom, dreams and aspirations to reach far. Participants will be immersed in the space of the sky, gliding through the brilliant skies full of pride.

“Asian Wings” is inspired by the image of the traditional kite, a symbol of childhood and the desire to fly high, the work stylized into the shape of an AirAsia plane wing, is a tribute to the 20-year journey with Vietnam, expressed through modern projection art.

Like a window opening into the clouds, “Dream State Living” invites participants to embark on an artistic adventure between reality and fantasy. With the combination of projection technology and touch interaction, participants are free to explore and imagine uncharted lands.

“Chim Lac” – a profound cultural symbol in the Vietnamese consciousness, recreated through reflective glass material, opening up many layers of meaning about culture, art, tourism and national identity. This work recounts AirAsia’s journey of attachment to Vietnam, like the image of the Lac Bird, carrying the stories and pride of the Vietnamese people to the world.

Listening, contemplating, interacting and immersing are the four emotional states that viewers will experience at the exhibition. Each work is a surreal flight, leading the audience to immerse themselves in a multi-layered art space, combining images, light, sound and technology. All convey the spirit of “Culture – Tourism – Art – Sports – Modernity” – the year  AirAsia’s foundational element in Vietnam.

The ‘Taking Off’ exhibition will be open to the public from 1pm on April 24 to 9pm on April 27 at the 4th floor, Hai An Bookstore, 2B Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Da Kao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
