Entering the world of Nguyen Dinh Viet’s paintings, viewers seem to be lost in another dimension, where time seems to stand still in the misty fog. Using acrylic and oil painting techniques, he recreates the ancient landscape and architecture of Hue with a beauty that is both realistic and vague, suggesting the depth and cultural values typical of this land.

The minimalist layout and dark color scheme create a mysterious beauty, drawing viewers into a space that is both strange and familiar. The scenes covered in a layer of gray-green mist, as if the light had retreated from sight, left in Hue a quiet memory, filled with silent thoughts and slow, lingering emotions.

His series of watercolor paintings make a strong impression with the lively rhythm of a flock of ducks running in the fields, where the intentionally repeated images create a captivating visual effect. Standing out from the steady flow of movement is the image of a lone duck, appearing as a point of breaking the rules, symbolizing difference, rebellious spirit and the desire for freedom.

Breaking free from the framework of traditional watercolor techniques, he expands the color palette by mixing meticulous strokes with liberal tones, creating strong visual contrasts. His art world is both familiar with the countryside and filled with a spirit of contemporary experimentation, thereby evoking thoughts about people, life and homeland.
